Real Steel Trailer

This movie doesn’t look like it will be the “next best thing” but it sure as hell looks cool!

Just received an e-mail today confirming my video acceptance to Life in a Day! I was so excited!!
Huge thanks go out to the two people who helped me make this happen! Hugh & Alida Sullivan made the magic happen behind the camera and Hugh played the role of my COD buddy on the phone. More info will come with this as I hear more from the Life in a Day staff.

Barry & Gary’s Ride for the Kids 2010

Today I was awakened by a loud ringing phone with none other than Gary Smith on the other line. Gary is my step-father and one of the men who helped to put on Barry & Gary’s Ride for the Kids “Poker Run”. The reason he called was to ask me to spend my day following hundreds of bikers from town to town and take photos of the ride. It was a scorcher today by the way! The ride was fun though and I was able to meet a variety of great people. Aside from the downpour towards the end of the run (My mother benefited from riding with me from Pana to Decatur and avoiding getting soaked…lol) the day was great! Enough ramble… Enjoy the pictures & look out for a possible update to barrysmotorcycles.com

Life in a Day Filming starts today!

July 24th 2010 is here and filming has been completed on my Life in a Day project. Thanks to my good friends Hugh & Alida Sullivan we were able to film this evening dispite the humid airs and ended up making a very nice piece to submit to Mr. MacDonald for his film. This film will be played at the Sundance Film Festival and whomever’s entries get picked to be featured will have there names credited to the movie as co-directors and a lucky 20 of those folks will have the opportunity to get closer to the creators and the film. So without further explanation I will leave you to the video short and provide you with a link to more information about what this really is. Enjoy!

Predators Reviewed via “cartwheelmurphy”

Originally this weekend I had intentions on seeing The Last Air bender, but a change of plans lead me to Predators. I was somewhat hesitant to see it because of the bad taste left in my mouth from the AVP series. They weren’t terrible, but they weren’t good. Never the less I had nothing to fear having Robert Rodriguez and Troublemaker Studios attached. Plus, who wouldn’t want to see a Rodriguez Predator film that was hyped up in the last SXSW.

Let’s assume you were me and didn’t do any homework on this movie before seeing it. Only thing I gathered from the trailer was a group of highly capable killing machines were taken to a remote area somewhere to face a group of highly capable alien killing machines. Well this is just the main point (no spoiler there). With this being my only thought upon beginning the movie, the story totally expands. Who are these people? Why are the Predators hunting them? Where the heck are they? Most importantly, why is Topher Grace in a Predator movie? These are things that will be asked during the whole movie.

Here’s the part where I’m going to give you reasons to see this film.

A lot of reboots that have been coming out have been reminiscent to their predecessors. Predators is not a reboot, it’s more like a sequel. In order for me to explain, I personally feel like I would be giving away a cool part that would make the movie more fun if you see it yourself. Other things jumped at me that made me think of the original. Like the text used in the beginning credits, the score for the movie, and (without telling) the song played for the ending credits. The song played made me giggle like a little school girl for its significance from the first film.

So to keep this short my honest opinion is see this film if you liked action movies from the 80’s. See it if you like blood, gore, and bullet shells. If you don’t want to see it for the movie, see it for the Machete trailer. I was very entertained, and somewhat relieved from the AVP movies that were released. Based on what I saw, I give it a solid B+. I even think old Arny would agree with that.
